Of humble origin, he studied at the universities of Oxford and Newcastle, where he graduated as an Electrical Engineer. Later got a master's degree at the University ofQueen. Since I was in school with their peers laugh with funny faces.
In 1983 he wrote, in collaboration with writer Richard Curtis, the famous comedy The blacksnake. His first acting jobs were in Not the Nine O'Clock News (1979), which became a huge success. He has won several awards including the Emmy Award and BritishAcademy Award for the categories of television entertainment programs. He acted inseveral films such as Hot Shots 2, Scooby Doo and the aftermath of James Bond: NeverSay Never Again (1983), the various incarnations of the television series The Black Viper(1983), Funny Business (1992) and Bean (1997) he made the leap to fame.
In 2001 he formed part of an ensemble cast in Rat Race with John Cleese, WhoopiGoldberg and Cuba Gooding, Jr., from the hand of director Jerry Zucker, screenwriter ofAirplane and Naked Gun.
In 2003 Johnny starred in 2005 Español Family Secrets, also considered as great success, especially the first, which drew a sequel.
